Kristen Taketa of the San Diego Union-Tribune wrote the piece "Protesters fail to save mural by famed Chicano artist from demolition at San Diego school" to describe the significances of the mural to the people in the city. Artist Salvador Roberto Torres created the artwork on the side of a school building. Torres was also the co-founder of Centro Roberto Torres a non-profit organization that's goals are to persevere and create artwork that promotes and educates about Chicano, Mexicano, Native American, and Latino culture. The mural had to be taken down based on the fact that it was painted on a classroom that contained asbestos. Based on the fact that asbestos is dangerous for the human body it was only right that the mural had to be taken down. Although the artwork had to be demolished it was said that the mural will be going back up at the building of the new school. The reason why the mural meant so much to the community was that it held images of former personal that had been connected to the school such as old teachers and students.

Throughout the article, I believe that Kristen Taketa was using an emotional and informative style of writing. Taketa gave great information on the situation as a whole and did not inject personal opinion on the subject matter while still touching the heart of the reader through great background information. Taketa did very well in using outside sources and giving them the recognition that was deserved which only added credibility. I believe that this piece has great reliability and proved to provide relevant and informative information about the situation as a whole in its entirety.
