The Mona Lisa is considered to be a half-Length portrait painting made by the famous artist Leonardo Da Vinci that is an archetypal masterpiece according to the Italian renaissance. This painting was done in all oil on a poplar canvas. The canvas has been on permanent display at the Louvre since 1797. The Mona Lisa is one of the only pieces of work done by Da Vinci not to be questioned whether or not it had been created by himself. The artwork was actually stolen at a certain point in time in 1911. Since the work can expand based on changes in humidity it has seen some warping going on.

The perfection of the new artistic formula is shown in its immediate influence on pairs and of all art of the early 16th century. The art is also well known for being the wife of Da Vinci, the piece was so valuable that it had been kept in the French royal collection for quite some time. The painting is said to be created based on either one of two reasons the purchasing of their new house or the birth of his second child.

  1. Eric,
Thank you for sharing your analysis of the great Mona Lisa Painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. It was interesting to learn that this artistic formula influenced much of the art of the 16th century. I was unaware Da Vinci was an influencer of his time. From what i know of artists is that many do not become very popular until they are past , which is unfortunate because there is so much that could be learned while they were still here. From what you describe about Da Vinci he was truly unlike any other artist.
